The Bee Movie voice actress answers five questions about the movie (opening November 2)just for you!

What got you interested in being part of Jerry Seinfeld's film Bee Movie?

Who wouldn't want to work with Jerry Seinfeld? And he's my neighbor! I thought, what a good way to get to know your neighbor! Plus, if I said no, it would get really complicated when we ride bikes and pass each other on the streets.

Your character, Vanessa, ends up talking to and befriending a bee! Have you ever talked to something other than another person?

Haven't we all? When you can't find your keys, don't you call out, "Come on, guys, we have to leave! Where did you go?!" And when your jeans don't fit, "What are you thinking? Cut it out!"

How is making an animated movie different from a live-action movie?

I don't have to put on any makeup - and I can wear my sweatpants to work! I don't have to wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning to do a weird hairstyle for a period piece, and there are never any corsets When you do animation, it's just you, your sweatpants and a microphone. You have to find some courage to just go ahead and make a fool of  yourself without a safety net.

What is your policy on killing insects?

Can't kill them!! There are many toilet-paper spider parachutes in my past. That's when you open the window first and then retreat into the bathroom for toilet paper while keeping an eye on the spider. Then you scoop it up real quickly and throw it before it has the chance to get off the toilet paper. And then, of course, you have to go retrieve the toilet paper after has gone about its business.

What would you be doing now if you weren't an actress?

I'd probably be a journalist - that's what I went to school for, so this whole thing is a big mistake! I don't think I ever consciously became an actress. I thought I would do entertainment journalism because I knew I liked the lifestyle it would afford me to have: I would get to travel a lot and get to meet people all the time. I'd always be on the go, discovering new places. I love that process where you get inside your head to write something and lose the day. You don't realize you've missed lunch and dinner and it's dark outside because you're so focused on what you're creating - I love that!
